Adi Braun

Adi Braun (born November 23 1962 in Toronto) is a Canadian jazz and cabaret vocalist and composer.
She was born Adreana Braun in Toronto but spent most of her childhood in Germany. Her parents were opera singers Victor Braun (1935–2001) and Eraine Braun. She began studying piano at the age of six. She studied classical music at the University of Toronto and performed for several years as a classical singer, most notably with the Canadian Opera Company and Opera Atelier. She has a degree in vocal music from University of Toronto.
In 2000 Braun began moving "sideways" and back to her first love of popular music. Since then she has been active on the Canadian scene as well as in the U.S. and Europe as a jazz/cabaret singer. She has recorded four CDs: "Delishious"(2003); "The Rules of the Game" (2005); "Live at the Metropolitan Room"(2008) and "Canadian Scenes I" (2010) - all of which are on her own label "Blue Rider Records". Her brother Russell Braun is an operatic baritone and her brother Torsten is the founder and lead singer of the rock group "Defective by design".
